CAERWYS 1

MOLD TOWN UNITED 3

SEVEN days after beating league leaders Brymbo Victoria, Caerwys departed the Horace Wynne Cup in disappointing fashion.

It was Mold Town who won the cup tie in the dying seconds of the tie following two howlers from Caerwys keeper Seb Czubaj.

The Polish stopper, who had a great game at Brymbo the previous weekend, was a virtual spectator in the second half as Caerwys threw everything at Mold, who had deservedly gone ahead through a Stuart Hayes header after 18 minutes.

Caerwys got back into the game after a poor first 25 minutes.

Elgan Hughes equalised from the spot following a foul on Tom Cumming after 47 minutes.

Caerwys had opportunities to have gone ahead earlier than that when Dylan Mackie saw a good effort from 18 yards being pushed wide, while Ryan Jones and Cumming had chances when well placed.

On the hour-mark and from six yards out, Josh Richardson narrowly headed over the bar from a great Jack Cox free kick, before Mackie hit the bar from close range.

Ryan Jones shot wide with Caerwys pushing for the winner, however the visitors reclaimed the lead late on.

Hayes claimed his second goal in the 89th minute when Czubaj totally miskicked the ball and a minute later Hayes took advantage of another slip by Czubaj to seal the win.
