IT turned out to be another busy week of action in the Llandudno and District Table Tennis League.

In the preliminary round of the President’s Trophy, it was Y Morfa B who progressed at the expense of Division One side Y Morfa A.

Bill Wooley led the way with an impressive 40-33 win over Chris Henderson.

In the Handicap Cup round of sixteen, Craig-y-Don A were set a target of a 29-point average per game versus Police A.

Only Ady Waugh beat this target, losing 40-36 to Thomas au Yeung.

Police A progressed through to a quarter-final against Rhyl B.

Craig-y-Don A live to fight again in the President’s Trophy against Y Morfa B.

In Division One, the attention turned to the competitive battle for third position in the league.

Conwy B hold that position at present following a narrow 20-19 win over Rhyl A.

The game of the night witnessed Andy Lunt claw his way back from 4-10 in the firth to beat Barrie Russ 15-13.

Police A continue to make rapid progress.

A team without their strongest player Mark Pugh blew away Conwy A 25-12. The strongest player on the night was James Wan, who won his three singles for the loss of only one game.

Super sub Sean Lucas came off the scoring table to shine in the doubles and with the help of Melvyn Booker they secured a consolation 3-0 victory.

In Division Two, Trinity B maintained their title challenge with a narrow 20-17 win over Amlwch C.

Captain Rob Stewart won all his singles matches and the Trinity doubles win in three straight proved decisive.

Amlwch B are in second place with two games in hand after a comfortable 28-5 result over Y Morfa C.

Henllan B lie third despite losing out 21-17 to seventh-placed Rhyl B. Chris Markey, representing Rhyl B, is clearly a strong player at this level and he won his three for the loss of only one game.
