BALA Town’s JD Cymru Premier fixture at home to Newtown will go ahead on Friday after a u-turn was made regarding the squad having to self-isolate due to Covid-19.

The Lakesiders scheduled fixture away to Aberystwyth Town was called off last Friday amid Covid-19 fears.

The game was suspended after three members of the Penybont FC party, who had travelled to Bala’s Maes Tegid for their 4-1 defeat to Bala a week earlier (November 14), tested positive for the virus.

NHS Wales Test, Trace and Protect had initially informed Bala's squad, including coaching staff, to self-isolate for two weeks. However, that decision was overturned a day later after club officials presented evidence of their processes in line with the stringent Football Association of Wales (FAW) Return to Play Protocols.

As a result, Bala Town will no longer need to conduct a period of self-isolation and their JD Cymru Premier match against Newtown scheduled for this Friday is permitted to go ahead.

The Robins are currently sat in eighth place in the league table and claimed an impressive 0-0 draw away at Barry Town United on Saturday.

Bala are third, having won seven of their eleven games so far and lost just one.
