DENBIGH TOWN Ladies were on the receiving end of an 8-5 loss to their Wrexham opponents in a goal-fest on Saturday.
Manager Jordie Baker saw his team concede three goals in the first eight minutes before Wrexham headed into half time 6-1 up, Rosie Hughes pulling one back late on for Denbigh.
The home side were better in the second half, but Wrexham's class continued to tell as six more goals followed for both sides.
Rosie Hughes hit a further hat-trick and youngster Cara Jones scored with a low shot into the bottom.
But a further two goals for Wrexham ensured that the 8-5 victory was there's.
A report on the club's website concluded: "A fantastic workout and a great effort by both teams After a very, very shaky start the whole squad showed they have what it takes. A remarkable effort by every single player who refused to give up.
"Many thanks to Wrexham AFC Women for making the trip and playing this friendly. Good luck and hopefully we will see you again this season Covid allowing."
