AFTER football returned to Denbighshire in the form of friendlies last weekend, the action continued on pitches across the county on Friday and Saturday.

Newly-formed Denbigh-based side Caer Clwyd made it two wins out of two by beating Llangollen Town Reserves 4-3.

After beating Denbigh Wanderers 4-1 last Saturday, the home side impressed once more in this one.

The Reserves were ahead just two minutes in through Stephen Short but a penalty from Craig Lavery on seven minutes pulled Caer Clwyd level.

Goals from Owain Jones (2) and Fran Roberts then gave the home side a 4-1 lead in the second half before a Morgan Edwards double gave the Reserves a glimmer of hope, but it wasn’t to be as Caer Clwyd held on.

Elsewhere, Llangollen’s first team enjoyed a great 6-4 victory at Ruabon Rovers. Chris Bennion, Ryan Williams, Andrew Swarbrick and Mike Jones were on target for Rovers but goals from Lee Griffiths (3), Kristian Jones, Dewi Edwards and Ben Wilson ensured victory for Town.

Abergele were 3-2 winners over Cerrigydrudion thanks to James Lloyd, Lewis Waggett and Jack Hoult and Denbigh Development fell to a 2-1 home loss at the hands of Rhyl Dragons whose goals were scored by Wayne Evans and Connor Beattie.

Duncan Midgley (below) was the star of the show for St Asaph City, bagging a hat-trick in their 5-1 victory over the North Football Association (NFA). An own goal and a Mikey Hargrave strike completed the scoring for the Saints.
