48 RUNNERS recently represented Denbigh Harriers in the virtual North Wales 4K Road Relays.

The event, which involved all 11 North Wales running clubs, was ran virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This meant that the 397 runners involved in total had to choose their own courses and submit a GPS track of their run for results to be compiled.

Courses had to be either an out and back course or a circular loop to ensure there were no downhill routes. Teams were created from the results with three runners to count in each team.

The big Harrier presence paid dividends in terms of results with the club taking home six sets of medals.

There were Gold Medals for the Womens’ W50 and W60 teams, silver for the M60 team, bronze medals for the Senior Women, W40 and the M50 teams.

In addition, there were individual achievements for Sioned Griffiths (3rd W35), Mel Morris (3rd W45), Ceri Diss (1st W55), Emma Collins (2nd W55), Menai Baugh (2nd W60) and Vic Belshaw (3rd M60).

But, perhaps the biggest achievement for the club was the fact they had entered a total of 13 teams, making it the largest participant in the region despite its size.

A club spokesperson said it was a ‘great effort by all the runners’.
