DENBIGH TOWN FC have strengthened their squad significantly ahead of the 21/22 campaign with the acquisition of former Bala Town man Stuart Jones.

The club will play in the new tier three Ardal North East League in the upcoming season.

New signing Jones, a defender, played more 250 times in the heart of Bala's defence in the Welsh Premier League, as well as a number of European football matches and has a Welsh Cup winners medal to his name.

The 34-year-old started his football journey with Everton youth then went on to Tranmere youth, Chester, and Cammel Laird before that great nine year spell at Bala. He left Maes Tegid last year and has since been on the books at Flint, Airbus and Vauxhall FC.

Speaking to Denbigh Town's website, Jones said: "The set up here looks good and feels right and I think I will settle in well with these players. I know Dewi (Llion, club manager( and I have seen what the club have been doing over the years getting better and better.

"In some ways, Denbigh Town reminds me of where Bala Town were years ago when they were building."

Dewi Llion added " Having worked with Stu at Bala I've seen, first hand, the effect he has both on and off the pitch. He is a commanding centre half, strong in the air and competent with both feet. Very experienced at the top domestic level and in the Welsh Cup. Stu is a huge signing for us."
