AT last, a respite from the rain and the good weather gave a chance to play a decent Denbigh Golf Club winter league round.

Derry Morris raised his game to see off the chasing pack of 141 players.

The course has indeed recovered well after the rain although the worm casts on the fairways still attach themselves to the footwear.

Recently the club announced the introduction of advanced artificial turf to two tees as a trial which will reduce wear and tear and allow players a perfect surface whatever the weather.

Week 11 result: Winner, Derry Morris 41pts. Silver: 1, Craig Stubbs 40; 2, Dave Clayton 37. Bronze: 1, Tom Wilcox Jones 40; 2, Jake Jones 37. Nearest the pin on the 14th, Jake Jones.

Fred Jones hangs on to his lead in the overall individual competition, with Dave Clayton now on his heels and Eric Howells dropping down to third place.

In the team event, leaders Paul Smith, Dilwyn W Roberts and Gethin Edwards have now extended their lead to 12 points.
