IT was a fantastic day for the second juniors WFRA race at Moel Wnion, near Llanllechid, on Saturday.

A total of 49 juniors ran the tough courses in superb weather.

Ifan Wood and Saoirse McDonnell have competed in both races in Denbigh Harriers colours and hope to complete all races in the series.

A huge well done to both of them and both very happy to come home with thirds.

David Baugh took part in the Lakes Traverse Ultra, which is a 60-mile run starting by the Irish Sea and across the Lake District.

The race climbs 12,200 feet and covers a mixture of true mountain terrain. There were a 216 entrants with 128 finishing and a high percentage of runners having to retire.

David finished the course in his target time of 18 hours and 20 minutes in 69th place, running the last 20 miles of the race in darkness with snow cover on the high ground and freezing temperatures.

Seven Denbigh Harriers took part in the Bespoke Sanlam Coast Half Marathon on Sunday, a lovely, flat out-and-back course from the Nova Centre in Prestatyn to Pont Draig in Rhyl and back.

Daniel Jones was the first Harrier home with a third overall podium finish - and a personal best - in 1-21.37.

He was followed by Iwan Evans (15th) also achieving a pb in 1-32.24 and Gareth Jones (54th), who was taking part in his first half marathon finishing with a personal best of 1-45.45.

The first lady Harrier home was Lee Evans (69th) with another pb of 1-52.33, and Chris Evans (81st), also competing in his first half-marathon, finished with a pb of 1-57.11.

Completing the line-up for the Harriers were husband and wife Peter and Alison Lester-Owen (88th and 89th respectively) finishing in 1-58.39, with Alison second in her age group and achieveing a personal best competing in her first race of any kind.

Eleanor Ashcroft also achieved a personal best at the Manchester Marathon on Sunday.

She finished in a fantastic 3-23.45.
