FIVE Vale of Clwyd players will get the chance to show off their talents in a major midweek contest.

Wales National County (North) continue their season with a home 50-over encounter versus Staffordshire in St Asaph on Wednesday.

Not surprisingly, there are four St Asaph players in the squad, including skipper Will Ryan.

He is joined by clubmates Duncan Midgley, Jason Foulkes and Matt Ryan.

Also in the squad is Denbigh all-rounder Harrison Jones.

A stunning century from Finlay Richardson ensured Wales National County (North) opened their season with defeat versus Cumbria.

Netherfield Cricket Club hosted last week's clash, with Richardson cracking 127 not out from 110 deliveries as Cumbria set 265 for six from their 50 overs.

Gresford's Chris Ellwood picked up one for 50, with three wickets going to Bangor all-rounder Owen Reilly.

North Wales' reply was affected by rain and they made 113 for five in 34 overs.

Vice captain Matt Humphreys (Mochdre) top scored with 35 not out, while Denbigh's Harrison Jones struck 20.

Gresford's Danny Williams was unbeaten on 19 at the close and Brymbo's James Claybrook struck 14.

Wednesday's contest will followed by two T20 matches away to Staffordshire on June 8.

On June 21-22, North Wales will take on Irish province Munster in a two-day game at Bangor Cricket Club.
