A BALA Town star will get the opportunity to show off his talents in the Football League next season.

Will Evans is set to depart the Lakesiders to make a big move to League Two club Newport County.

Evans joined the Bala back in August 2020 from Cardiff Met, after he spent five years in the capital as a student.

Making his competitive debut for the Lakesiders in the historic 1-0 win over Valletta in the Europa League, Evans made 33 league appearances in his first season, managing 13 goals.

Evans' second season with Bala saw him grab 11 league goals in 24 appearances, helping the club to qualify for Europe for the ninth time.

His form led to him being selected in the Cymru C squad for their match with England and Evans netted two fine goals in a 4-0 triumph.

A Bala Town statement read: "We would like to thank Will for his important contributions during his time at the club, and we wish him all the best on his latest journey in the Football League."

The deal will officially be completed on June 10 when the summer transfer window opens.

Newport manager James Rowberry told the club's website: “I’m really pleased to welcome Will to our club.

“We have been observing Will’s progression over a period of time now and he has shown a real hunger in wanting to join our club.

“Will gives us another dimension within our attacking department. I’m sure you’ll all give Will a really warm welcome.”

In further Bala news, Nathan Peate has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until June 2023.

The forthcoming season will be Peate's third year at the club with the defender having become a staple in the Bala backline during his time.

Since signing from Cefn Druids in July 2020, the defender has made over 60 appearances for the Lakesiders, scoring 11 times.

Centre-back Antony Kay has also signed a new deal to remain at Maes Tegid until next summer.

Lassana Mendes has also extended his stay with the club, but Sean Smith has departed Bala.
