THERE were a mixture of events for Denbigh Golf Club members to enjoy last week.

The week finished with a mixed exchange with the Mile End Club at Gobowen, a much longer course than Denbigh but always so well maintained.

A well supported event for mixed pairs enjoying the challenge of the parkland course with commendable scores recorded.

The result was settled with a back nine countback, as Fred Jones and Janice Jones edged out Emlyn Pierce and Pauline Pierce.

However, the closest contest was experienced on Saturday with the men's Am-Am event, where the first three teams all recorded the same winning total.

Andrew Witton, Deiniol Jones, George Williams and Pete Messham eventually bagged the top honour.

The best recorded score of the week came last Thursday with a knock-out effort recorded by Gwynn Jones who simply blew the field away with his 48 points.

That was four points clear of his nearest challenger.
