RUGBY legends will be putting their boots on once more for a special match in the Vale of Clwyd next month.

A multiple Grand Slam champion is just one of the players who will be turning out at Clwb Rygbi Dinbych on Saturday, August 27.

Former Wales and Lions star James Hook will be taking part in the match, which will see a Barbarians XV captained by Llion Edwards and Rowland Phillips tackling Dinbych.

Clwb Rygbi Dinbych are looking forward to welcoming all to Caeau Les Phillips on August 27 to raise a glass and remember our past members.

Edwards, a Dinbych stalwart over many years, is looking forward to what promises to be a brilliant occasion.

"Rowland and I were chatting last year and thought we would like to bring the community together after a difficult two years due to the pandemic and an opportunity to pay our respects to past members," said Edwards, who also picked up a Summer League Shield runners-up medal with Cefn FC.

Former Welsh international Phillips will be working closely with Edwards to captain the Barbarians, which will also include Allan Bateman.

Talented Bateman is a dual-code rugby international centre who represented the British and Irish Lions at rugby union, as well Great Britain in rugby league.

He played 35 rugby union Tests for Wales.

Meanwhile, Grand Slam winner James Hook pulled on the Welsh jersey on 81 occasions, scoring 352 points.

Edwards says there’s a possibility a few other star players will be announced in the squad before the match.
