PHEW, that was a close one!

Denbigh's unbeaten North Wales Cricket League record was put under severe pressure by Gwersyllt Park, before the Division One leaders edged through to a thrilling one-wicket triumph.

Batting first, Gwersyllt Park were all out for 157 in the final over of their innings.

Leading the way for the hosts was skipper Iroshan De Silva (70), as Joe Lewis (3-24) and Sam Lewis (3-38) were able to impress with the ball.

The match looked to be comfortably heading in Denbigh's favour when they reached 111 for one during their reply.

Sam Lewis (57) and captain Harrison Jones (36) spearheaded the reply, with Darren Nixon (14) and Joe Lewis (10) also contributing.

Alfie Lythgoe (4-33) turned the match on its head, though, as Denbigh slumped to 152 for nine.

They still required six runs for victory, but crucially Archie Sussex was still there.

Sussex finished on 17 not out and there was no sign of pressure from number 11 batsman Jake Hall, who struck five not out from just three deliveries as Denbigh got over the line with four deliveries to spare.
