CAPTAIN Will Ryan led from the front in brilliant fashion as Wales National County (North) enjoyed victory at home to Shropshire Academy.

Ryan, one of four St Asaph players in the North Wales side, cracked an unbeaten century in the 141-run triumph at Brymbo Cricket Club.

Batting at number four, Ryan cracked 151 not out from 130 deliveries as the hosts set 327 for eight from their 50 overs.

His innings contained 17 fours and six sixes.

Also making their mark with the bat were Matt Humphreys (42), Denbigh's Harrison Jones (37) and Richie Walker (26).

Despite a knock of 78 from Theo Truss, Shropshire were dismissed for 186.

Brymbo's Dan Parry picked up 4-30 and Humphreys completed a fine all-round showing with 4-28.

Parry said: "From a Brymbo Cricket Club point of view, it was a pleasure to host the game, giving us a great opportunity to showcase our great facilities.

"These games are brilliant to have and play in, allowing North Wales to showcase the talents we have in our area.

"It was great to see Matt Thompson, head of talent pathway, watching the game too."
