BALA Town are now just 90 minutes away from winning silverware.

The Lakesiders booked their spot in the final of the Nathaniel MG Cup courtesy of a 2-0 win in their last-four meeting at home to Cardiff Met.

Seven days on from their 1-0 win over Bala in the Cymru Premier League, the side from the capital would have travelled with confidence.

However, a goal in each half worked a treat to send Colin Caton's side into the final.

On seven minutes, Lassana Mendes set up Dave Edwards for the fist opportunity, which was saved by the legs of Alex Lang.

Good work from Naim Arsan gave Chris Venables a chance a minute later, only for his shot to be blocked on the line.

Bala did manage to take the lead after 18 minutes.

George Newell's cross from the left was deflected and after a scramble on the line, Venables poked the ball in.

Cardiff Met looked to respond after the interval and a great save from Alex Ramsay worked to keep out Jac Davies' curling effort.

The second half was a tense affair and there were few opportunities.

It was Bala who made sure of their final spot with four minutes left to play, though.

Dave Edwards latched on to the ball on the edge of the box and then he found the top of the net with a left-footed half-volley to seal the deal.

In the final, Bala will take on Connah's Quay Nomads.

Neil Gibson's Nomads defeated Taff's Well 2-0 at the Deeside Stadium thanks to second half efforts from Callum Bratley and Michael Wilde.
