A TOP-THREE Cymru Premier League finish now looks to be a tough prospect for Bala Town.

The Lakesiders were looking for a three-point haul from their home meeting with Cardiff Met, however it ended up 0-0 at Maes Tegid.

This result keeps Bala in fifth spot in the league rankings and with five games left to play, Colin Caton's side are seven points adrift of third-placed Penybont.

Cardiff Met had the first opportunity as Harry Owen's effort from the edge of the box was well saved by Alex Ramsay.

Chris Baker's strike hit the post as Met continued to threaten, while at the other end Chris Venables' attempt was well saved by goalkeeper Alex Lang.

Captain Venables was in the thick of the action again at the end of the half, with his header going straight at Lang.

Bala had penalty appeals turned down early in the second half.

Luke Wall's shot looked to be blocked by a Cardiff Met hand, but play was waved on.

The visitors were down to 10 men 10 minutes into the second half.

Tom Price was sent off for kicking out at Nathan Burke.

Burke attempted a spectacular effort that was saved by Lang at the second attempt, while Ollie Shannon did have the ball in the net, but this was chalked off for offside.
