THE Rhyl and District Junior Football League held its annual cup finals last weekend, all staged at Denbigh Town's Central Park.

During May, teams from across the league age groups played in festivals and cup competitions for the opportunity to play in the finals held on June 2 and 3 at a packed out Central Park.

A total of four Denbigh Town teams made it through to the finals.

Saturday saw the under-13s beat Kinmel Bay 3-1 in the Memorial Cup, with goals from Aled Slingerland, Theo Morris and Josh Jones.

Sunday’s finals included three Denbigh teams, two of whom played each other.

The under-7s Dragons played the under-7s Reds after they both reached the final during their festival in May.

The Reds lifted the cup after narrowly edging it 3-2, in what was a highly competitive game with some excellent football on show.

To complete the hat-tick, Denbigh Town under-10 Athletic needed extra time to seal their win against a strong Prestatyn Athletic side.

With the score at 3-3 at full time, five minutes’ extra time was played.

With two minutes to go, Denbigh powered down the left-hand side, delivered a cross which was neatly slotted home.

It rounded off a hugely successful weekend for Denbigh Town Football Club, as the juniors emulated their senior team in bringing home the trophies.
