TO coincide with Open Doors Ruthin, a quilt exhibition will take place later this week.

Running from Thursday, September 8 to Sunday, September 11, this will be Cwiltwyr Dyffryn Clwyd Quilters' first exhibition of quilts post-Covid to celebrate quilting, its place in our culture and to relaunch the group.

"Our members have produced skilled, exciting, stunning work, some of which is at the exhibition," said a group spokesperson.

"There are about 120 pieces of work on display ranging from small wall hangings to large quilts."

They will be exhibited at three venues in Ruthin.

These will be the Grade I-listed Nantclwyd y Dre, the Old Courthouse on St Peter's Square and St Peter’s Church, a rare example of a colligate church.

"We are very privileged to have a Victorian log cabin quilt made in Conwy as part of our exhibition," added the spokesperson.

"This quilt is on loan from Jen Jones of the Welsh Quilt Museum, Lampeter.

"We are also exhibiting quilts from our founder members, a range of children's quilts, modern and traditional quilts and many examples of different quilting techniques and styles, all in glorious colours."

The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm daily and while admission is free, there is a request for voluntary donations to support each site's ongoing work.

There is a specialist textile market on Sunday featuring some textile artists and their work.

The exhibition will be officially opened at 10am this Thursday at St Peter’s Church by Ruthin mayor Cllr Menna Jones.
