GOALKEEPING gloves that denied England glory at Euro 2020 will be among the items auctioned off in memory of a much-loved Denbighshire man.

A Summer League charity match is scheduled to be held on Easter Sunday, April 9.

It will be in memory of Martin Dyer, who tragically died following a paragliding accident in France last July.

Llangynhafal, the team Mr Dyer played for and managed, will be playing Rhewl, with kick-off at 2.30pm.

The football match will be followed by an evening event at the Drovers Arms, Rhewl, with live music / DJ, an outdoor bar and marquee, and a charity auction.

Plenty of auction items have been secured for the evening, including the gloves worn by Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma during the dramatic Euro 2020 final against England at Wembley.

Donnarumma took a starring role as Gareth Southgate's England lost out 3-2 on penalties.

The day is being organised by Mr Dyer's sons Johan and Theo.

Speaking about the acquisition of the gloves, Johan said: "They are signed and match-worn.

"We have got the gloves and the Michael van Gerwen signed picture."

It is fitting that the gloves form part of the auction, as Mr Dyer was a well-known goalkeeper around the region during his playing days.

Another auction item will be a Manchester United shirt, which has been signed by Marcus Rashford.

Johan said his dad would find this funny, as he was a big Liverpool FC supporter!

A number of other items are in the pipeline for the auction, he added.

All proceeds will be donated to the Wales Air Ambulance

On what the day will mean, he said: "Once I put it up, quite a lot of people were saying they wouldn't miss it for the world."
