RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 212 Spring Lambs to £222 / 555ppk; 3,255 prime hoggets to £167 / 364.8ppk; 488 ewes to £228 and eight prime heifers to 335ppk / £2,110.50.

Spring lambs (auctioneer-Elfor Morris):

A total of 212 spring lambs forward to an SQQ of 370ppk.

Standard weights leading the way, as is the norm, with 131 lambs at 36.8kg averaging £136/head.

Hywel Roberts, Parc Farm, judged the springers for the auction this year and awarded the following.

A super Easter show entry of 3,230 hoggs forward to an SQQ of 287ppk.

Total of 1,368 mediums to an average of 291ppk, with 276 lights a pleasing average of 271ppk, being 28.9kg average to £78 all through.

Most of the heavies and overweights hit the £135 to £145 mark, with 955 standard weight to average £102/head.

Eight quality cattle forward met a great trade for the Easter sale.

RUTHIN Farmers' Auction reports sales of 1,520 prime hoggets to £155 / 328.7ppk and 259 ewes to £170.

Prime hoggets (auctioneer-Rich Lloyd):

A busy end to the week again with 1,520 prime hoggets.

Trade continuing to climb with a cracking SQQ of 275.1ppk on the day and smiling faces around.

A tally of 301 lights in the entry, predominantly Welsh mountain up again on the week at 258.8ppk.

Meanwhile, 465 mediums were the dearest per kilo at 287.3ppk.

Fewer in number on the day with an entry of 206 store cattle.

An excellent trade on all types topping at £1,800.

A total of 55 heifers forward with an overall average of £1,104.81.

Top price of £1,590 went to JM & GM Graham, Groesfaen selling a 23 month Charolais.

Less calves than expected, which met a similar trade to the previous week.
